There are few milestones as meaningful as preparing to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It's a season filled with anticipation, faith, excitement, and saying goodbye to loved ones before embarking on an incredible journey.
I had the privilege of photographing Halle before she leaves to serve her LDS mission in England, and I couldn't have imagined a more beautiful morning to celebrate this exciting chapter of her life.
We met just after sunrise at the stunning Mantua Poppy Fields in Northern Utah, one of the most beautiful spring photography locations in the state. The timing couldn’t have been better—the poppies were in full bloom, and the soft morning light created a glowing, golden atmosphere.
Early morning sessions are always worth the early wake-up call, and this one was no exception. The combination of cool spring air, quiet fields, and warm sunrise light made the perfect backdrop for LDS mission portraits in Utah that feel timeless, peaceful, and full of hope.

To make the session even more personal, Halle brought two meaningful items that represent the journey ahead. She proudly displayed the England flag, symbolizing the country she has been called to serve, and she brought her Book of Mormon—a reminder of the faith and purpose that will guide her throughout her mission.
One of my favorite parts of photographing mission sessions is capturing more than just beautiful portraits. These sessions preserve a moment in time—a season of preparation, courage, and excitement before life changes in such a meaningful way. Years from now, these photographs will remind Halle of the anticipation she felt as she prepared to dedicate the next chapter of her life to serving others.
