Stacy and Richie rocked their maternity session this past spring. They we’re a fun and easy couple to work with and I had a great time getting to know them. This is one of my favorite parts of photographing couples. I love meeting others and getting to know about them and make a lot of connections. Along with the natural look of their session Stacy wanted to use a few different props she had. I don’t normally use props in my sessions but the ones they chose we’re super cute and had good meaning! Also, those little blue moccasins we’re absolutely adorable, and believe it or not are from Old Navy! I really want to find some similar for our baby boy due in October!
You may notice the cute little onesie they are holding which has the month/year little baby Heath would be welcomed into the world. Though Heath was expected in April, he decided to make his entrance slightly early, so having these pictures displaying April made for a nice little joke in their family, especially since these pictures are now displayed in baby Heath's room!
When I showed up to meet Heath for the first time outside the womb and take his newborn photos, seeing the photos of Stacy and Richie’s maternity pictures displayed in his room we’re so encouraging! I love seeing work from previous sessions displayed on the walls of client’s homes. This has always been my goal; to give clients so beautiful they can’t help but display them on their walls. Last month while we we're visiting friends and family on the East Coast we met up with Rebecca Shivers Photographer and exchanged photo sessions. This was the first time seeing them since they we're in San Diego photographing Michael and I's wedding! At the time their baby boy Finn was just a little babe in Becky's tummy.
I love how green everything was on the East, they we're getting drenched with rain for weeks and as you can tell we had quite the cloudy weather for our session that day! Wish I could say the same for the weather back here in Southern California!!
Yesterday I blogged the picture she took of us so I'll share that link here as well! Our Anniversary Photos

This quiet setting in East Lake was perfect for Lorena and Ryan's maternity pictures. Lorena was expecting her third baby and at the time decided to wait and be surprised as to what God was going to bless them with for this pregnancy. They have already been blessed with two little boys already and are very excited (and surprised!) to announce to welcome a baby girl! What a wonderful surprise!
I had the privilege to photograph these two lovely people soon before the tied the knot! I can say they are now officially husband and wife and have the cutest little family! Their engagement was made even more perfect by all the wonderful vendors that were involved in bringing everything together. We could not have had a more beautiful day and beautiful setup without the following vendors below:

I absolutely loved taking pictures of these two! There were so much genuine smiles and laughter shared between these two. They’re definitely one of the most affectionate and adoring couples I know!
The sun fell perfectly behind Silver Strand Beach for this session, creating a romantic feel in these photos. This spot is absolutely stunning for pictures. If you ever get a chance to go, on one side is the ocean (usually filled with people) and the bayside is usually deserted (definitely more intimate and quiet). This is perfect for photo shoots as you don’t have to worry about people being in the background of your photos or in the way of a place you wanted to take a picture.
I’m so thankful I was able to photograph this couple and capture their love for each other. We could not have asked for a better day and amazing sunshine. I was getting a little worried because even though San Diego is known for its sunshine, earlier in the day it was a bit cloudy. Thankfully when it was time for their shoot, the sun was shinning so bright and lasted up until the last few pictures where it sunk in behind the clouds. Believe it or not, the following day bore rain showers that were desperately needed in Southern California.

I had such a marvelous time getting together with Lindsay and planning this session. We headed to Torrey Pines State Park and drove to the top to get started. Torrey Pines is large park with tons of trails which meant there was only so much we could see before the sun went down. Oh, and that sun...we had a small battle with the sun as it kept hiding from us from time to time but after a bit of a fight, we made it work for our pictures and ended up with such a dreamy session! It was such a wonderful session which included a dress from the amazing clothing site ModCloth. I highly suggest checking it out, there is an abundance of things to choose from. To really add to the session I got a bouquet from the same florist who made my wedding flowers, Designworks Florals. She created a stunning bouquet.
We picked such a perfect day and gorgeous location for this maternity session. Scripps pier is a location that many photographers enjoy photographing due to its beautiful light! You can see why below! It also helps that my wonderful model Lindsey wore this beautiful aqua/blue dress to accommodate with the soft light this beach has.
We had a fun time wandering around the beach and climbing up rocks to get photos. Lindsey brought her daughter along to the shoot, and since Lindsey is a photographer herself, her daughter was definitely not new to being in front of the camera. With Lindseys husband being away in the military, we're hoping these photos of her pregnancy will send some love his way as the days are getting shorter and he can be reunited with his family. I'm excited as you spend your last weeks waiting for your little boy to arrive and add one more member to your family!

It was such a joy to shoot Roxanne's maternity pictures at Balboa Park. This place is always full of life and when we were there, full of music as well.
Roxanne and CJ are a military family with three little ones (soon to be four), about to move from San Diego, and head over seas once this new little one arrives. I enjoyed photographing Roxanne and Cj, while at the same time, getting to know a little about them and their lives. Roxanne, who is a budding photographer herself, was able to enjoy the luxury of being in front of the camera this time. It's always fun getting to know the people you're photographing and it's fun to be able to connect on a photography level and sharing the things you're passionate about.
One of my favorites from this shoot was being among the cactus gardens. It is such a dreamy little spot, when you're in there, you don't feel like you're next to a city, or right by the highway. It's a nice little escape, as well as a fantastic spot for pictures!
