I can't believe a year has already gone by to when I photographed their mom and dad for their maternity session last winter! Besides being adorable, these two have grown so much and have developed such cute little personalities.
If photographing one mobile baby wasn't tough enough, try photographing two! Just kidding, these two were actually incredibly good and their session went really fast with the help of having both their mom and dad there to help catch them and put them back in place.
I'm excited to grow more of my studio wardrobe for more baby sessions like this. I'll share a post soon with photos of what I have already!

Lots of firsts here! The first is this is my first blog post since May! I have so many beautiful sessions I need to blog too! Anywho, this is my first cake smash session in my studio and it happened to be my babys 1st birthday cake smash!
My not so little baby, David Noah turned one on October 22. Since his birthday came on a Sunday this year, we celebrated on Saturday with a fun fiesta themed birthday party. Although he won't remember it, we will and we can tell him about it when he's older, and show him pictures of course :) Pictures from his party coming later!
This was actually David's 2nd cake smash. I made him an almost sugarless, healthy cake for his party. He really only ate the sprinkles off of it so for his official cake smash I decided to do less work and make a simple box cake, He did the same thing to this one so not only did he not get much not-needed sugar, I had barely any mess to clean up! Yay David!

Carolina and Marks maternity session was a nice and relaxed photoshoot, walking through a whimsical forest of Eucalyptus trees in La Jolla, California. Being first time parents, they were eagerly anticipating the birth of their baby boy, all ready to go! Their maternity pictures were just about the last thing they had planned to do before welcoming their baby into the world.
Having the stress of trying to get everything together before your baby comes can be a distraction from more fun things like having your photos taken. One thing I do is not only help my clients prepare for their session before the shoot but make everything nice and relaxing during the shoot.
A few helpful tips when planning for your maternity photos:
- Plan outfits before the day of your session
- Give yourself PLENTY of time for hair/make up, whether having it professionally done or doing it yourself
- Put together a bag of things that will be helpful at your shoot like a brush, hairspray, flip flops (if you are wearing heels and will be walking around)
- Talk with photographer about any worries you're having or ask questions, it doesn't hurt to ask!
Hopefully these tips will be helpful for you in preparing for your maternity photo session or any session for that matter!
