It's been 6 weeks since our baby boy, David Noah came into this world. Like usual, things definitely didn't go as planned and although I am okay with everything now, it was a huge emotional (and physical) adjustment the days after David was born. Our little guy does not like to be put down (he loves to be close to mommy and held 99% of the time unless he's sleeping and I'm not complaining :) so I haven't had much time to sit down and blog, let alone be on my computer at all, so this is why it took 6 weeks to write a blog post and share a little about my birth story and life after his birth!
I had such a great and healthy pregnancy I had never anticipated having to have a cesarean section, especially since no one else in my family ever had issues delivering babies (my family is quite good at the whole fertility and delivering babies thing!). After 23 hours of labor, and 1.5 of pushing, baby D was not progressing (plus I had an infection from having had my water broke for 18 hours), so with much discouragement, but ready to meet my baby, it was best to go along with a c-section.
About an hour later, David Noah came into the world at 12:22 AM on October 22, 2016. I didn't get to see him immediately like I had been dreaming of for months. I had to wait about 10 minutes to get to see him which seriously felt like forever. I finally got to see him for the first time, daddy introducing us. I was in quite a bit of pain as they were putting me back together (my c-section was definitely no easy way out, it was pretty awful, don't let anyone tell you it's easy or painless, not true although I don't remember any of the pain now thankfully, just that there was a lot!) so I couldn't take in the moment like I had imagined until we we're sent to the recovery room although I do remember his cute face and seeing his dark hair for the first time.
This was where I first got to hold my baby, skin to skin and take in all of him. Looking at all his little details and taking in his scent.
We spent the next few days in the hospital as both Michael and I adjusted to having this little baby. I am so thankful for all the help we received while in the hospital from all the nurses and doctors, We finally went home Monday evening and once home although I was happy to be there, it was a whole new learning experience with much sleep deprivation and limited mobility due to the c-section.
I started to feel better and more like myself not long after being home and it just got better and better with time. Michael was such a huge help as a new daddy. Having him there for me was a huge blessing to our marriage and I think God definitely used that to help us grow even closer as a married couple.
Six weeks into mommyhood and I love it so much. I could use a bunch of big fancy words to try and describe it but there's no need because it's simply wonderful. He gets cuter every day and my love for him grows more and more. I look forward to all of our firsts as parents and seeing David grow. He's now starting to smile for real and it's just the cutest!
And here are a few favorites from our first family photoshoot photographed by Eden Day Photography! David was two weeks old here!
